OCPAC reverts to five-word name
The Orange County Performing Arts Center decided that it needed more space, and it found it in its name. Less than a year ago the center changed its logo to read Orange County Performing Artscenter, combining the last two words, but recently it has reinserted the break between “Arts” and “Center.”
If you can’t tell the difference, you’re probably not alone, but some people could. According to Terrence Dwyer, the center’s president, some people liked the name better in its grammatically correct form, before the switch.
“There was some commitment and connection to the original classic logo, so we decided to switch back,” Dwyer said.
The change of heart comes less than a year after Dwyer originally announced the name change, calling it a “newly articulated vision for the future,” according to a September 2007 Los Angeles Times article.
