Cause for crash on East Coast Highway unknown

Authorities are investigating why a Mission Viejo man lost control of his motorcycle in a fatal accident on southbound East Coast Highway this weekend, police said Monday.

Mario Frassetto, 34, died after his 2000 Yamaha motorcycle crashed at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday south of Reef Point Drive on East Coast Highway, CHP officer Denise Quesada said.

Frassetto veered right and slammed into the metal guard rail, Quesada said. He was thrown off his motorcycle and hit the rail a second time, while his bike continued sliding south, she said. No other vehicles were involved, she said.
