“All three restaurants have been doing very, very well,” said Monet Quick, the community development director for the Camp. “They’ve got a following, and people absolutely rave about them for different reasons.”

Fusion restaurant approaches 20th year

Roy’s, a Hawaiian fusion restaurant in Newport Beach, features a three-course dinner menu for the summer that will run through September.

For the first course of the meal, diners have the choice between the nori-charred yellowfin ahi, the Japanese pear, baby arugula and chevre salad or Asian spiced shumai meatballs.

The main dish of the night — the second course — offers a few options to customers: prosciutto-wrapped tiger shrimp, fried egg and fried rice, Gorgonzola-and-spinach-crusted salmon, Mongolian grilled top sirloin barbecue and tender braised Hawaii Kai beef short ribs.

Dessert options round out the meal, with diners choosing between Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé and the alliterative Sweet Summertime Strawberry Shortcake.

Nearing its 20th year as a franchise, Roy’s will be celebrating with a nine-city Anniversary Dinner Tour spearheaded by the founder himself, Roy Yamaguchi. The chain features five Southern California locations.

The three-course summer dinner at the Roy’s in Newport costs $35 per person, not including tax and tip.
