Breeze softball team ready for Triple Crown tourney

The Huntington Beach Breeze 12-and-under softball team will be in the 2008 Triple Crown National Championship beginning Monday in Park City, Utah.

The team, which leaves Sunday for Park City, qualified in late January by winning a tournament and have prepared all season for this week-long national event.

The tournament runs through July 13.

The Breeze will compete in Pool D. They play their tournament opener at 8 a.m. Tuesday against Colorado and then come back at 11:30 a.m. to face Voodoo, another team from California.

They also play teams from Texas and Oregon at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, on Wednesday.

Double-elimination bracket play begins July 10.

The Huntington Beach 12-U team roster includes: Cassie Baughman, Emily Cardona, Maddison Cornelius, Ally Forsberg, Brittany Hitchcock, Erika Jason, Mary McGregor, Cami McNabb, Brynne McNabb, Nicole Minnicucci, Breanna Payson, Cheyenne Rankin, Jenni Rulon, Mak Williamson and Sammy Vandiver.
