Previous mayor pulls papers for council seat
Former Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan has added his name to the list of candidates who have picked up the official papers to declare their intention to run for a City Council seat in November.
Monahan, who served for more than a decade on the council, owns Skosh Monahan’s Family Steakhouse and Irish Pub on Newport Boulevard. He also serves on the Costa Mesa Sanitary District’s board.
Katrina Foley is the only other person to pick up papers from the city clerk’s office; but Mayor Eric Bever, Planning Commissioner Jim Fisler and Chris Bunyan, a member of the Costa Mesa Cultural Arts Committee, have all expressed interest in running. Three seats held by Bever, Foley and Linda Dixon are open for the November election. Mayor Pro Tem Allan Mansoor and Councilwoman Wendy Leece keep their seats until 2010.
