Three local incumbents had pulled nominating papers by Thursday morning.

Mayor Jane Egly, City Clerk Martha Anderson and City Treasurer Laura Parisi all took the first step toward candidacy in the November election by pulling the nomination package, which includes a petition that must be signed by 20 locally registered voters.

Mayor Pro Tem Cheryl Kinsman has announced her candidacy, but is out of town.

The nominating period opened Monday and will close Aug. 8, unless one of the incumbents decides not to run, which would extend the period for an additional week and affect only that particular office.

Anderson, who is running for a second term as city clerk, was the first to pull papers. Egly also is seeking a second term. Parisi is running for her third four-year term.

Besides the petition, the Candidates Handbook includes forms for voluntary participation by the candidate in conduct outlined in the Fair Political Practices code, acceptance of local expenditure limitations and an advisory of the $1,500 cost to translate campaign statements in required foreign languages.

A statement of financial worth and Form 460, the semi-annual financial statement required of all candidates, is also part of the handbook. The handbook was prepared by Anderson, who serves as the city’s election official.
