Boys & Girls Club ‘scratch’ on CDs

The Laguna Beach Boys & Girls Club is participating in “Scratched, an Art Show of Repurposed Expression,” along with clubs from five California regions.

Local clubs “scratched” on old CDs to “repurpose” them as art.

The CD art will be shown from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Laguna Beach club, and move to the Venice Beach Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, then on Thursday to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and to San Francisco’s Union Square on July 25.

“The show is an opportunity to transcend the walls of individual clubs and allow the kids to be inspired by the diversity of art by young artists across the state,” according to a press statement from the club. The Collective Sound Summer Music Academy will perform at the show, with original songs recorded at camp this summer.
