Homosexuality and Bible film screening

Daniel Karslake’s “For the Bible Tells Me So,” a documentary that won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. July 26 at Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive. There is no charge.

Karslake’s documentary seeks to reconcile homosexuality and Biblical scripture, and argues that Church-sanctioned anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a misinterpretation of the Bible

The film tells the experiences of five Christian, American families with a gay child, including former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson. Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and the Rev. Jimmy Creech are some of the voices heard in the film.

The program begins with an introduction by co-executive producers Sandra Hartness and Karen Ellis, and a question-and-answer period following the 90-minute film. For more information contact Julie Phillips at (949) 497-2343.
