UC IRVINE GOLFER JOHN CHIN IN QUARTERFINALS AT U.S. AMATEUR PUBLIC LINKS

Big West Conference Player of the Year 2008 from UC Irvine, John Chin won his match play tournament against Wesley Bryan of Chapin, S.C. With the match all square after 12 holes, Chin finished strong with birdie scores on the 15th and 16th holes to secure the win at 3 and 2. Chin will play the quarterfinals against Jeff Dennis of Jacksonville, Florida with the tee time Friday at 6:45 AM (PDT) at the Murphy Creek Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado.

The UCI men’s golf team recorded nine top-five finishes in its 14 tournaments this past season. Chin, who had seven top-10 finishes, led the team with a 71.57 scoring average. Chin was named to the PING All-Pacific Region team.
