We know there are many people who enjoy pampering their pups. So this week we checked in with Sandy Deem-Naff, of Three Dog Bakery, who knows just the recipe for spoiled dogs.

What are some of the top-selling treats you make?

Our most popular treats are the ruffles, peanut mutter cookies, Dottie’s spots, birthday cakes and our pupcakes.

Which flavors are dogs crazy about?

Peanut butter.

Can you clue us in on the latest summer fashion for dogs?

Cool summer collars and T-shirts with funny sayings on them.

Also, we are waiting for a really cool line of Ed Hardy and Rolling Stones apparel.

What is a must-have item for dogs?

Cool summer collars, flossies (the best chew bone), and the latest and greatest toys!

Which toys are most popular?

Any of the more durable toys seem to be very popular. Also, in the summer months, the floatable toys are a must.

How are the ingredients good for a dog’s health?

We use all-natural ingredients. Not only are they healthy, but they are low in fat as well. We do not add any salt, artificial flavors, refined sugar or preservatives to any of our treats.

Has the economic situation affected your business?

It’s impacted us to some extent, but we are doing really well selling more treats that dogs and their humans can enjoy for a relatively inexpensive experience.

When you were a kid, were you the type to feed the dog table scraps?

Absolutely…especially things I didn’t like.

Have you ever considered opening a bakery for cats?

Cats prefer fish products, and I don’t think the aroma in the bakery would be as appealing with a fish smell. We do sell a ton of great, packaged treats for cats.

Tell us a funny story about an event that happened in the store, or a story about a unique pet customer.

Can’t narrow down to one … here are a few:

Our pastry chef had just finished making a fresh batch of ruffles and they were on a large piece of parchment. She turned her back for a second and Storm, the resident lab, quietly pulled the corner of the parchment toward him until the ruffles rolled off the edge! It was hysterical!

Zeus, a black poodle, ran into the back and stole a cake that was cooling on the baking rack and ran out the front door! The 7-inch round cake was hanging out of his mouth! Everyone thought it was hysterical, except his owner, who was horrified.

Every Sunday, Bertie, an English Setter, comes in for his weekly box of treats. He races in the store waiting for his treat.

After he leaves, I always give him a special treat outside the store. Whether his mom is ready or not, he drags her out the door in anticipation.

Sometimes I pretend I’m not going to give him his treat and I pretend to say goodbye to him. He refuses to leave and barks at me, so as if to say, “Come on, let’s go… give me the treat!” It is sooo funny.
