The Ocean View 9/10 All-Star team keeps rolling along in Little League postseason play.

Ocean View has won its first three games at the 9/10 Southern California South Sub-Divisional Tournament at Clairemont Hilltoppers Little League in San Diego.

The three wins put undefeated Ocean View in the division championship series that began Wednesday. Ocean View met the winner of Rancho San Diego and Victorville Ribbons, played Tuesday night. The score from Wednesday’s game wasn’t available at press time.

Should Ocean View win the South, it will move on to play in Moorpark on Saturday against the North division winner in a best-of-three series that will determine the overall division winner.

District 62 champion Ocean View began divisional play Saturday with a 14-1 rout of Temecula Valley National (District 28) in a game called after five innings.

Strong pitching by Steven Gingery and the offense of Nick Pratto (two for three with two doubles) and Michael Green (two doubles) helped Ocean View take control early.

“I was proud of the boys for staying focused through the whole game and not letting up until it was over,” Ocean View Coach Sean Pouelsen said.

Ocean View came back on Sunday to down Victorville Ribbons (District 49), 12-2, in a game halted after four innings. Hagen Danner didn’t allow a hit, but Ocean View didn’t take over the game until scoring its first run in the third inning. Hunter Simmons and Andres Galarza drove in the runs to start rallies.

“Victorville was a good team and was one or two hits away from making a serious comeback,” Pouelsen said. “But we played good defense and were very disciplined at the plate, which was the tone of the game.”

On Monday, Ocean View defeated Rancho San Diego (District 41), 4-1, a team Pouelsen called “well-coached” and said “gave us all we could handle.”

Logan Pouelsen pitched six strong innings and kept Rancho San Diego off-balance most of the game.

Chad Minato drove in Luke Williams to get Ocean View on the scoreboard in the third inning. Logan Pouelsen and Danner drove in runs in the fifth.

“That game was the best one of all the games that we have played up to this point,” Sean Pouelsen said. “They were solid defensively and had a lot of good hitters that we had to keep off the base paths.”

Ocean View had qualified for the South division tournament after clinching the Section 10 tournament championship two weeks ago with a 9-0 victory over San Clemente.
