Starbucks to close one Laguna cafe

Starbucks is closing one of its five locations in Laguna Beach, the company announced on its website. The cafe slated for closure is at 636 N. Coast Hwy. in the Boat Canyon shopping complex.

Starbucks announced July 1 it would close about 600 company-operated stores in the United States.

Chamber to mix at Community Clinic

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce is holding its August mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20, at the Laguna Beach Community Clinic, 362 Third St.

The cost for members is $10, and for non-members, $15.

Volcom to acquire Laguna Surf & Sport

Volcom Inc. has announced an agreement to acquire the retail operations of Laguna Surf & Sport, which operates two stores in Laguna Beach and Aliso Viejo. The stores will continue to operate under the same name and retail team.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Laguna Surf & Sport is located at 1088 S. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach.

“Laguna Surf & Sport has been a landmark on the Southern California surf and skate scene for many years and this acquisition further demonstrates our dedication to core retail and its importance to Volcom,” said Richard Woolcott, chairman and chief executive of Volcom. “It’s great to now be more strongly aligned with one of our longest standing accounts and we look forward to working together even more closely in the years to come.”
