Laguna coach likes what he sees

Coach Jonathan Todd was pleased with the way his Laguna Beach High football team competed July 17 in a non-scoring passing league game against visiting Capistrano Valley Christian at Guyer Field.

“Our kids did very well,” he said. “We had success executing everything in our offensive package. Our defense held them from scoring.

“I was really happy. Both our No. 1 quarterback, senior Andrew Paddon, and our No. 2 quarterback, sophomore Austin Paxson, had very high percentage completions.”

Leading Laguna in touchdown receptions in the game was sophomore Chris Paul with four and senior John Snedegar who had two.

“We also have a very talented group of freshmen,” Todd said.

“I put them in for a series against Capistrano Valley Christian’s varsity, and they were able to move the ball well, scoring two touchdowns.

“I can’t wait to see how these kids do in pads. So far, it’s all looking pretty good.”
