Eastbluff kids to present sixth summer play

The Eastbluff Summer Theater plans to launch its sixth annual summer musical production this week, and since the play is a seafaring adventure, that’s “launch” in the fullest sense of the word.

The troupe, comprising 53 children aged 6 to 14 and overseen by parent Annie Lindt, will present “The Lady Pirates of Captain Bree,” a swashbuckling comedy about two pirate captains who band together to save their crews from the British Navy. Most of the actors in the cast are from Eastbluff Elementary School, but a few older kids from the neighborhood will lend a hand.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Eastbluff Elementary School, 2627 Vista del Oro, Newport Beach.
