PET OF THE WEEK

Kitten litters commonly come in groups of five or more, such as the litter of Braveheart, Sprite, Wooly, Wonky, Ruby and Bella, who are up for adoption this week from the Community Animal Network.

Ruby and Bella are black-and-white sisters, and the boys are sleek, black Burmese kittens with panther-like bodies.

“The kitten group enjoys being held and the boys are exceptionally affectionate,” said Community Animal Network founder DiAnna Pfaff-Martin.

Recent news reports have shown shelters are full of animals, and the Community Animal Network has a number of kittens up for adoption as well.

Community Animal Network has pet adoptions from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays outside Russo’s Pet Experience in Fashion Island. To volunteer or to adopt, call (949) 759-3646 to help.

The network is asking for help with Snowball, whose family has lost its home due to a foreclosure and he was injured during the move. His foreleg suffered a severe fracture, and a veterinary surgical specialist in Tustin has performed the complicated surgery that instilled a metal plate. The surgery has been discounted $1,000 and Community Animal Network has been given 30 days to raise the $2,000 needed to cover the costs.

Donations are being accepted in his name. Mail your contribution to Community Animal Network, P.O. Box 8662, Newport Beach, CA, 92658 and memo your check Snowball’s surgery, nonprofit tax ID 33-0971560.
