Marines seek donations for kids in Philippines

Huntington Beach’s adopted battalion of Marines is asking for donations to its humanitarian work in the Philippines, where it is headed next.

The 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines is asking for notebooks, pens, pencils, chalk, backpacks, and deflated soccer balls. Donations of $10 are requested for shipping. The battalion will be training and building schools on its next deployment, which began after July 4.

To drop off supplies, go to HB Digital Arts, 1614 Alabama St.; Seevid Inc., 5445 Oceanus Drive; Surf City Bank, 7755 Center Ave., Suite 100; Huntington Beach Central Library at Talbert Avenue and Goldenwest Street; or the City Hall lobby, 2000 Main St. City Hall cannot take checks. Checks can be sent directly to the HB 3/1 Marines Foundation, 19744 Beach Blvd., No. 528, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
