UCI basketball coaches planning to spread word

The UC Irvine men’s basketball program and Panera Bread are teaming up for the inaugural UC Irvine Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Tour.

Beginning Monday and running through Sept. 12, UCI Coach Pat Douglass and his staff will be visiting campus and community organizations to provide insight into the Anteater program.

The staff believes that as UCI intercollegiate athletics grows, it is increasingly important to offer personal contact with the community.

Douglass, preparing for his 12th season guiding the program, is UCI’s all-time leader in wins with 171. Last season, UCI was 18-16, including an 11-1 record in the Bren Events Center. The Anteaters made their first appearance in the Big West Tournament championship game since 1994.

This is a chance for fans to hear about the group of recruits entering the program and how UCI will stack up against quality opponents such as Oregon and Utah at home, and USC on the road.
