Locals making cameos

Misty May-Treanor, Mike Lambert, John Speraw and Jason Ring appear in “Green Flash,” a beach volleyball movie set for release this summer.

May-Treanor, the former Newport Harbor High star, Lambert of Costa Mesa and Speraw, the UC Irvine men’s volleyball coach, will make cameo appearances in the film that has been invited to open the Feel Good Film Festival at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood Aug. 22.

Ring, a Newport Beach resident, is part of the cast, playing the role of Brian “Ima” Ferry.

Jaleel White, famous for his role as nerd Steve Urkel on the sitcom “Family Matters,” is a co-star.

David Charvet, who starred in “Baywatch,” plays the leading role, Cameron Day, a former basketball player who tries to make it big in beach volleyball.

Speraw, who plays a sportscaster in “Green Flash,” is an assistant coach for the U.S. men’s Olympic team.

Speraw guided UCI to the 2007 NCAA championship.
