Nineteen-year-old Lauren Perkins of Huntington Beach proved to be super Sunday by winning the Skateboard Street contest on the final day of the 2008 S3 Supergirl Jam at the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.

Perkins defeated 17 competitors from throughout the Southland to earn $5,000.

It was her first victory at the S3 Supergirl Jam, a three-day, all-female action sports events that featured top professional and up-and-coming athletes in surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and inline skating.

“I knew I needed to nail everything because there were more competitors here than any other event lately, and all the other girls are extremely talented,” she said.

Evelien Bouilliart, 19, third to Perkins in the Jam, captured “Best Trick” in the skateboarding competition.

The other winner Sunday at the S3 Supergirl Jam was Laurie Currier of Wrightwood, who won both the Snowboard Rail Jam and “Best Trick” award.

In surfing, Courtney Conolgue of Santa Ana reached the Supergirl Junior Pro four-person final and finished in fourth-place. Also in the competition was Huntington Beach’s Jenna Balester, but the 18-year-old had her run end in the Round of 16.
