EUGENE, Ore. — UC Irvine senior-to-be Jane Chin and former Anteater Selanee Henderson have made the cut for match play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Eugene Country Club.

Chin and Henderson both shot six-over-par 150 to tie for 44th with eight others during stroke play. Chin shot two-over 74 in the first round Monday, and followed that up with a four-over 76 Tuesday. She had four birdies over the two rounds.

Henderson was three-over 75 in each of the first two rounds, collecting six birdies throughout.

Joy Trotter, a UCI incoming freshman, did not qualify for match play, finishing tied for 88th with 12 others with a score of 11-over 155 (77-78).

Amanda Blumenherst, 22, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Stephanie Na, 19, of Australia, both finished at four-under 140 to share the lead for stroke play. Match play, which includes 64 players, begins today with the first round. The second and third rounds will be played Thursday and the quarterfinal matches are on Friday. The semifinals will be played Saturday and the 36-hole championship final will be played Sunday.

KNAPP SEVEN BACK

SANTEE — Ryan Knapp, who will be a senior at Estancia High, shot six-over-par 78 to tie for 40th with four others after the first round in the Emerson Junior Golf Classic at Carton Oaks Country Club.

Knapp is seven shots behind the leaders, a quartet which shot one-under 71s.

Corona del Mar High graduate Taylor Keddington shot 79 to tie for 45th with five others. Jake Knapp, an incoming freshman for Estancia and Ryan’s younger brother, carded an 82 to tie for 60th with four others.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Assn., the Emerson Junior Golf Classic is a 54-hole stroke-play event. The tournament field consists of 75 boys, playing the par-72 layout at 7,003 yards.
