Eight is enough for baby

Justice Andrew Nash played his own, cardless version of crazy eights on Friday.

He was born on the eighth day of the eighth month of the eighth year of the century, at 8 pounds and 8 ounces.

What are the odds?

Astronomical, it’s safe to say.

For parents Carrie, 35, and Tim, 40, native Orange Countians who now live in Murrieta, the plethora of eights — they arrived at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach at 8:08 a.m. — means one thing: good luck.

“We’re very aware of the fact that it’s a symbol of prosperity,” Tim said.

Three and a half years ago, Carrie gave birth to twins Jalee and Jaxon at Hoag. Carrie, a full-time mother, and Tim, western regional sales manager for Southern California Telephone Company, were so impressed by the hospital that they decided to entrust doctors and nurses with Justice, as well.

In case you’re wondering, Justice was not born at 8 p.m., but at 10:49 a.m. As an aside, another Hoag baby was born at 8:08 a.m.

Justice, who met grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings on Friday, will spend the weekend with mom and dad at Hoag.

The family likely will be home in Murrieta on Monday.

It’s a safe bet they can’t wait; Carrie was 11 days overdue when she gave birth to Justice.

“Who knows, maybe he was just waiting to get the lucky eights,” she said. “I just think this is a good start for this little guy.”
