Incumbents to run without competition
The filing deadline to run for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District School Board has come and gone without much of a fuss.
All three incumbents filed their papers Friday without even a whisper of a competitor. So, unless one of the members decides to withdraw from the race, Martha Fluor, Dana Black and David Brooks will be serving another term.
This will be Dana Black’s fourth time being elected to the school board. She was first elected in 1996. Brooks began in 1998 and Fluor has represented Newport-Mesa since 1991.
