Congratulations to 2008 Corona del Mar High School graduate Colton Dillon.

Among his many achievements, he was chosen this year as Youth of the Year by the Newport Harbor Exchange Club for the Newport-Mesa area and received a $1,000 scholarship.

Colton then won the same honor for the California/Hawaii/Nevada District Exchange Club region level and received a choice of $1,250 cash or a $2,500 bond scholarship.

Colton will be off to Northwestern University in Evanston in September, seeking a double major in theater and engineering from the School of Communications and School of Engineering. He was admitted to the former as a Communications Century Scholar.

“As you might guess, his mom, brothers and sister and I are quite proud of him,” said Colton’s father, Greg Dillon.

EXCHANGE CLUB MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor membership drive, organized by member Bob Wood, is paying great dividends with the induction of four new members in recent weeks.

Those inducted include Bob Harrington, sponsored by Wood; Angelo Peykoff, sponsored by Wally Ziglar; Tom Birch, sponsored by Ed Romeo; and Jack Valley, sponsored by Dick Freeman.

Wood has divided the club into three membership teams and provided each member with business cards that highlight activities of the Exchange Club, which they share with prospective members. As you can see, they are getting results!

WORTH REPEATING

Thought for the Day as provided by Greg Kelley of the Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council… “A ‘No’ uttered from deepest conviction is better and greater than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or what is worse, to avoid trouble.”
