Galilee-born preacher at Presbyterian church

Laguna Presbyterian Church will welcome guest preacher Fahed Abu Akel, a Palestinian Christian born in Galilee, who will preach at its 8:30 and 10 a.m. services on Sunday.

Rev. Abu Akel is former moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church USA, a Presbyterian pastor, and founder of Atlanta Ministry, which welcomes students of different faiths from around the world and challenges them to reach out to people of different faiths, clarify their own beliefs, and have cross-cultural experiences with the goal of being leaders, bridge builders, peacemakers and healers.

Having grown up in the Middle East, he has insight into both Islamic and Judaic culture. He is in Southern California for a gathering of Presbyterian Global Fellowship.
