A Newport Beach woman who police say led them on an hourlong chase into Los Angeles after she violated a restraining order from her ex-husband is scheduled to be arraigned today, prosecutors said.

Cary Lynn Lobel, 34, is charged with a felony count of evading police and a misdemeanor count of violating a protective order issued in March prohibiting her from coming within 100 yards years of her ex-husband’s home or contacting her children.

Police say Lobel called her ex-husband’s home July 25, when he was on a business trip, and told the housekeeper she planned to pick up their kids. The housekeeper called police and left with the kids, prosecutors said. Lobel went into the house and left gifts in the kids’ rooms, prosecutors said.

When Newport police arrived, Lobel hopped a fence, ran to her car and sped off, police said. Lobel faces up to three years in prison.
