Former UC Irvine men’s soccer standout Cameron Dunn signed recently with the Portland Timbers of the United Soccer Leagues.

Dunn, 24, a defender who completed his eligibility at UCI in 2006, when he helped the Anteaters win a school single-season record 13 games, joined the Timbers Aug. 1.

Dunn earned second-team All-Big West Conference honors in 2006, after being named first-team all-conference in his junior season.

He was chosen by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the SuperDraft in January, 2007, but did not make the team.

He played 10 matches in 2007 with the California Victory.

Dunn made his first start for the Timbers in a 1-1 tie with the Charleston Battery on Aug. 9. He also started the team’s last game, a 2-1 win over the Montreal Impact on Saturday in Portland.

The Timbers (8-11-10) have six games remaining this season, including a road date tonight against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
