Suspect in multiple rapes, killings pleads not guilty

A Stanton man pleaded not guilty Thursday to raping five women and killing two, with three of his alleged crimes happening in Costa Mesa, according to authorities.

Waymon Livingston, 25, is accused of raping five women between August 2005 and October 2007 and killing one of them in an Anaheim motel room. Livingston originally faced charges on three rapes and the Anaheim motel murder, but DNA evidence last year linked him to two additional rapes, one in a Costa Mesa motel room, and another killing.

Livingston was arrested at his home Oct. 11, 2007, by Anaheim police after the Orange County forensics experts linked him to the crimes, prosecutors said. His original case was amended with the additional charges in May.

Livingston faces life without the possibility of parole if convicted and is eligible for the death penalty if the sentencing enhancements for the murder charges are found true. He could also face multiple life terms if convicted of the rapes, prosecutors said.

His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18.
