TSA: Don’t worry about flying today
Seven years ago terrorist attacks grounded flights and led to heightened security at airports nationwide.
This year, though, the Transportation Security Administration says it will not increase staff at John Wayne Airport, according to TSA spokesman Dwayne Baird.
“I don’t think people should be worried about traveling that day. It’s like any other day we’re working. We don’t see it as an extra security threat,” Baird said.
At John Wayne Airport, there will be a series of four moments of silence, announced over the public address system, at the time of each of the attacks.
“There’s always a little more awareness around this date by everyone who works at the airport, but other than honoring and recognizing the anniversary nothing much should be different here,” said airport spokeswoman Jenny Wedge.
The TSA will also unveil new uniforms that the agency is having security screeners at the airport wear to look “more professional.”
