Sage Hill 11, Los Alamitos 7

NEWPORT BEACH — Rian Billingsley and Isa-Marie Taskinen swept at No. 1 doubles, helping the Lightning win the home match Tuesday at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.

Sage Hill (5-0) was without senior standout Jaclyn Smrecek (flu). However, the teams of Laney Tucker and Sarah Choi, as well as Dominque Moore and Ally Smart, each also won a pair of doubles sets for the Lightning.

Sage Hill is at Woodbridge on Thursday.

Estancia 13, Bolsa Grande 5

GARDEN GROVE — Eagles senior Ellie Edles won all 18 of her games as Estancia won the nonleague match Tuesday at Bolsa Grande High.

Jennifer Johnston also swept in singles, as did Alex Payzant and Erin Rodman in doubles, for the Eagles (3-0).

COSTA MESA — Eagles sophomore Charlie Umanski had three goals in the nonleague game Tuesday at Estancia High.

Senior Danny O’Neil added a pair of goals for Estancia (1-1), and sophomore Connor Graham made 10 saves.

Pacifica improved to 1-1.

Estancia plays host to Ocean View today.

COSTA MESA — Estancia junior Kim Haycraft was medalist, firing a six-over par 41 Tuesday in the nonleague match at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

Ashley Peters (44), Jackie Crosson (48), Nushin Tasbihchi (48) and Jeana DeArkal (49) also scored for Estancia (3-1).

Estancia and Edison will square off again Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mile Square Park.

NEWPORT BEACH — Tess Crane shot a team-best, seven-over par 42 for the Sea Kings in the nonleague match Tuesday at Newport Beach Country Club.

Also scoring for CdM (3-3) were Kelly Moorhead (43), Hyebin Hong (44), Amanda Johnson (45), and Ashley Varner and Lisa Chan both carded 49. Nikki Hanson shot 39 for Mission Viejo (1-0) for medalist honors.

FIELD HOCKEY

Newport Harbor 1,

Louisville 1

COSTA MESA — Sailors junior Kim Ramser scored the only Newport Harbor goal late in the first half Tuesday at Harper Community Center.

Ramser scored off an assist from her twin sister, Claire, for Newport Harbor (0-0-2). But Louisville responded with a goal with 23 minutes left in the game.

Sydney King made seven saves for Newport Harbor. Coach Devon Kelly said Zoie Wolfe also played a great game defensively.

The Sailors are at Chaminade on Thursday.

Santa Ana Valley

COSTA MESA — Senior Annie Tomasek had a team-high eight kills as the Eagles swept, 25-13, 25-4, 25-12, on Tuesday at Estancia.

Junior Amy Hartwell had seven kills for Estancia (2-0), junior Shona Lamb had 30 assists and junior Amanda Watson tallied eight digs.

Estancia plays at the Ganesha Tournament in Pomona, beginning Thursday.

CROSS COUNTRY

Academy League meet

IRVINE — Sage Hill won both the boys’ and girls’ competitions at Tuesday’s cluster meet at Mason Park.

Sage Hill’s Lion Wintemute (17 minutes, 14 seconds) and Blake Myers (17:22) took the top two spots for the boys on the three-mile course. Alex Jimenez was fourth in 17:48, followed by David Penner in seventh (17:51) and Slater Stanley in eighth (17:57).

Cait Williamson won the girls’ race for the Lightning, in 18:43. She was followed by fellow top 10 finishers and teammates Jackie Dion (fifth, 21:17) and Caroline Grant (sixth, 21:42).
