TEMECULA — Senior outside hitter Mary Buckingham recorded nine kills to help the Sailors win their season opener, 25-11, 25-15, 25-13, Wednesday.

Junior Kirby Burnham added six kills and seven digs, and senior Alice Cope had five kills for Newport Harbor.

Senior Arielle Lysacek finished with 22 assists and three kills. Junior Kelly Heenan had 13 assists and six digs.

NEWPORT COAST — Junior outside hitter Lindsey Kish finished with 24 digs and three kills in the Lightning’s 15-25, 17-25, 25-23, 23-25 nonleague loss Wednesday.

Tierney Danner had six kills and added three blocks for Sage Hill (2-4). Tess Wohrle had seven kills and 12 digs.
