Oenophiles can pour funds into high school

Liquor and high school don’t often mix, but supporters of Newport Harbor High School and wine lovers can clink glasses Saturday at the Newport Harbor Educational Foundation’s “Under the Newport Sun” fundraiser.

The Newport Beach Vineyards and Winery, 2128 Mesa Drive, will host a wine tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. with food, live entertainment and an opportunity drawing to benefit Newport Harbor High.

The foundation plans to divert the funds to instructional supplies and equipment, smaller learning communities, tutoring and counseling support.

Businesses that donate a gift certificate or merchandise for the opportunity drawing will receive a listing in the school’s E-Yellow Pages business directory.

Tickets for “Under the Newport Sun” are $75 and can be purchased at the door. For more information, call (949) 646-1556.
