COSTA MESA — Junior outside hitter Heather DeJongh finished with 14 kills and fives digs in the Lions’ Golden State Athletic Conference 25-22, 25-16, 33-31 victory Tuesday.

Freshman Kelsey Wirt had 13 kills and seven digs for Vanguard (9-1, 4-1 in conference).

Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — UC Irvine senior Jane Chin shot a 67 Tuesday and leads the Ron Moore Intercollegiate after 36 holes at the Highlands Ranch Golf Course.

Chin shot a five-under-par 67 to move into first place with a two-day score of 136 (69-67), two strokes ahead of Denver’s Stephanie Sherlock (138-67-71). Chin’s round included five birdies and was highlighted by an eagle on the 18th hole.

Chin’s 67 matches her career best round set in 2004 at Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown and is one shy of Patty Chawalitmetha’s school record 66 set on the first round of the 2007 Big West Championships. Chin’s score of 136 is the best 36-hole total in UCI women’s golf history.

As a team, UC Irvine moved up to fourth place with a two-day total of 596 (304-292). Host Denver tops the leaderboard with a score of 573 (287-286), the only school under par for the tournament. The Pioneers have four players in the top 14. San Jose State is in second place (591), while TCU is third (594), two shots ahead of the Anteaters.

Freshman Joy Trotter carded a 74 and is tied for 18th with a score of 151. Junior Henna Cho shot a 75 today and sits in 32nd position with a 155, while junior Patty Chawalitmetha is 39th with a score of 156 (80-76). Freshman Lalita Patipaksiri is 46th at 157 (78-79).

The tournament ends with 18 holes today.

MEN’S SOCCER

Cerritos 6, Orange Coast 0

COSTA MESA — The Pirates couldn’t stop Cerritos, which won its fifth straight match Tuesday in nonconference match.

OCC lost its third straight and fell to 4-4. Goalies Dane Fernandez and Brian Rippeto combined for 11 saves for the Pirates, who play host to Santiago Canyon Tuesday at 3 p.m. in an Orange Empire Conference opener.
