Home Depot to open new store in Huntington Beach

Though the housing market may be tough these days, Home Depot still sees opportunity in Huntington Beach.

That’s why the home improvement chain plans to open a new 126,000 square foot store in the city Oct. 30, which includes 25,000 square feet for a garden center. That’s about 14,000 square feet less than the average store size, according to company spokeswoman Kathryn Gallagher.

The store will be the 23rd in Orange County, according to company information.

The chain has cut down on new store openings, removing 50 from its pipeline for future stores, according to a company news release from earlier this year. But Gallagher said the chain still intends to open stores where it “makes sense.”
