COSTA MESA — Senior utility player Garrett Frazier scored a career-high four goals in the Mustangs’ Orange Coast League opener Wednesday.

Coach Justin Taylor said Costa Mesa (8-4) recorded its first shutout in three years.

Travis Wright had three steals, three assists and one goal for the Mustangs. Dustin Serrano finished with three goals, six assists and four steals.

Cody Serrano added seven steals, four assists and one goal.

Costa Mesa opens pool play at the Estancia Fall Classic against Bolsa Grande Friday at 3:50 p.m.

LAGUNA HILLS — Sophomore Chase Walton and junior Max Bergeson both scored five goals to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League-opening game Wednesday.

Michael Liao and Bergeson also split eight of the Sea Kings’ 20 steals and Isle Anderson made seven saves for the winners.

CdM competes in the S&R; Sport SoCal Water Polo Invitational, beginning Saturday at Irvine High.

IRVINE — Senior Kelsey Venditozzi captured medalist honors with a nine-hole round of seven-over-par 43 in the Academy League match Wednesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club.

Freshman Erin Hong (46) and senior Sara Anderson (51) also stood out for Sage Hill (3-5, 2-2 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Nelly Radeva swept at No. 1 singles for the Sailors in a nonleague match Wednesday.

Natalie Small and Jeanne Frei won two of three sets at No. 1 doubles for Newport Harbor (9-3), which has won five straight matches.

The Sailors play host to Marina today in a Sunset League match at 3 p.m.
