Swap meet adoption event offers variety of animals

Animals as small as guinea pigs, as big as German shepherds and as exotic as parrots will be on display for those interested in adopting them or just learning about them this weekend at the Orange County Fair and Events Center.

Almost 20 organizations that specialize in rescuing and caring for animals will set up booths at the Orange County Marketplace, also known as the swap meet, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The event is a first-time offering for the swap meet in conjunction with National Pet Wellness Month, and the $2 price of admission for the swap meet covers all costs for Pet Day activities.

Those who come can’t bring their own animals unless they are therapy or seeing-eye dogs.
