Tennis, polo tourneys end with championships today

Two big-time tournaments in boys’ water polo and girls’ tennis will have their respective finales in Orange County today.

Newport Harbor High and Corona del Mar will continue to compete in the Southern California boys’ water polo tournament at Irvine High. Newport Harbor, the defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion, is trying to rebound from its 7-5 loss to Los Alamitos on Thursday night at the Sailors’ pool.

Corona del Mar is playing host to the CdM All-American girls’ tournament. The two-day event ends today. It features 16 teams, including Dana Hills, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division I. Corona del Mar is ranked No. 2.

University, Laguna Beach and Troy are also competing in the tournament.
