FRESNO — Senior Desiree Alexander finished eighth in a time of 18 minutes, 46 seconds, helping the Sailors finish third as a team in the large school 5K race at Woodward Park Saturday.

Saugus won the event with 18 points, Arroyo Grande was second at 138 and Newport Harbor had 172.

Sophomore Tori Sarris placed 19th in 19:34, followed by junior Ava Nelson (43rd, 20:10), junior Patty Moddelmog (59th, 20:30), freshman Lauren Clemence (61st, 20:34), and junior Kasey DeYoung (115th, 21:32).

Next for Newport Harbor is the OC Championships Saturday at Irvine Regional Park at 8 a.m.

Estancia fall classic

COSTA MESA — Estancia High finished in eighth place after losing to Westminster, 13-9, Saturday at Estancia.

Sophomore Charlie Umanski scored a team-high five goals for the Eagles (3-10). Senior Danny O’Neil added two goals.

Earlier Saturday, the Eagles were defeated, 12-4, by the Edison B team in the fifth-place semifinal.

Umanski had two goals while O’Neil and fellow senior Kreger Todd had one apiece for Estancia.
