Vanguard’s Falkner named GSAC Player of the Week

Vanguard University sophomore midfielder Scott Falkner was named Golden State Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in men’s soccer Monday.

Falkner had his first goal of the season and added an assist, also his first of the campaign, to help the Lions defeat The Master’s, 2-0, Saturday in a battle of conference unbeatens in Santa Clarita.

Vanguard also defeated host Point Loma Nazarene, 2-1, on Wednesday.

The Lions, unranked in last week’s national poll, are 6-3-2, 4-0-1 in conference, heading into today’s 4 p.m. home conference clash with Concordia. Vanguard is in first place in conference with 13 points (three points for a win and one for a tie).
