Quevedo’s 14 saves key UCI women’s stalemate

LONG BEACH — Freshman goalie Erica Quevedo had 14 saves to pace the UC Irvine women’s soccer team in a 0-0 Big West Conference tie Sunday at Long Beach State.

Quevedo, named Big West Co-Player of the Week Monday, earned her third shutout of the season in just four starts.

The Anteaters (7-6-0, 1-1-1 in conference) return to action Friday when they play host to Big West and Orange County rival Cal State Fullerton at Anteater Stadium.

Long Beach State, which posted a 24-8 advantage in shots, is now 8-4-2, 2-0-1.
