Marrow drive will check residents for matches

A bone marrow drive will be held Sunday in honor of a local resident fighting lymphoma and awaiting a bone marrow transplant.

From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 16400 Springdale St., residents can join the National Marrow Doner Program registry, which finds matches with those in need throughout the nation. Those interested will submit four cheek swabs to see if they match anyone in the registry.

The drive is being held for Matt Cwiertny, 23, who was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma along with an even rarer blood disorder, which has put him through six rounds of chemotherapy.
