Despite being idle, Edison moves up in latest poll
Despite being idle last week, the Edison football team gained ground in the latest CIF Southern Section Pac 5 Division rankings.
The Chargers moved up a notch from seventh to sixth after Servite lost, 31-24, last week to Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks. The loss dropped the Friars from third to ninth in this week’s poll. By winning, Notre Dame moved from eighth to take Edison’s previous spot at No. 7.
Long Beach Poly, which scored a 12-7 win over St. Bonaventure, the No. 1 team in the Northern Division, remains atop the Pac-5 poll at 5-0.
Edison is the lone area football team to be included in this week’s CIF polls.
The only other local team to earn a CIF ranking this week was the Ocean View girls’ tennis team, which comes in at No. 2 in the latest Division V poll. The Seahawks are behind top-ranked Viewpoint in the rankings.
