Boo Blast coming to El Morro Oct. 24

El Morro Elementary School’s annual Boo Blast Halloween carnival will be from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the school. All proceeds from the Boo Blast go to the PTA and benefit students and teachers.

Families from the Laguna Beach Parents Club recently enjoyed a day at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. Children and grown ups enjoyed tractor rides, the petting zoo, picking vegetables, running through a corn maze “” and harvesting pumpkins straight off the vine.

The next Parents Club event is the annual Halloween Parade at Main Beach at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.

SchoolPower Golf Classic set for Nov. 3

“Around the World in 18 Holes” is the theme for SchoolPower’s 16th annual Golf Classic, Nov. 3 in Coto de Caza. The event promises a day of golf, food, wine tasting and friendship, all while helping to raise money for Laguna Beach schools.

Twenty percent of all golf proceeds go to Laguna Beach High School athletics.

Costs are $295 per single golfer, $1,150 per foursome, $80 for dinner only and $250 for T-Signs.

Dinner will follow the golf outing, with a silent auction. A prize will be awarded for the best foursome costume.

Holiday Palette designs sought

The Laguna Beach Arts Commission is seeking designs celebrating the holiday season for its Children’s Holiday Palette Exhibition. Young artists aged 5 to 17 who live, go to school or attend an art program in Laguna Beach are eligible.

All appropriate submitted children’s holiday palettes will be on display at City Hall during the holiday season in a portfolio for public viewing.

In addition, several designs will be selected for mounting onto wooden palettes. These will be displayed throughout December at City Hall in a special exhibition.

The deadline to submit palette designs to the Cultural Arts Department is 4 p.m. Nov. 21.
