Newport Beach resident completes Kona triathlon

Michele Landry, a Newport Beach resident, finished the Ford Ironman World Championship race in 12 hours, 34 minutes, 34 seconds Oct. 11 in Kona, Hawaii.

Landry, 35, finished 1,234th out of 1,736. She was one of 150 U.S. triathletes selected from a lottery to compete in the prestigious Ford Ironman World Championship, which is like the Super Bowl for triathletes.

The race consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike leg and a 26.2-mile marathon. It was Landry’s fourth Ironman race. She has been competing in triathlon for the past five years.
