Developmental and cell biology professor Arthur Lander will give a free public lecture on the topic, “Strategies of Life: Old Questions Driving the New ‘Systems’ Biology” Tuesday night at UCI.

From 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Lander will discuss the growing field of systems biology, which looks at complex interactions among elements like genes, proteins, cells and tissues rather than just at the components on their own.

The lecture will be at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering, 100 Academy Way, Irvine. While free, the lecture does require reservations; call (949) 824-2500 or e-mail biosci-events@uci.edu.

The event is sponsored by the UCI School of Biological Sciences and is part of the Allergan Lecture Series in Modern Biology.
