League win moves Edison up a notch in rankings

The Edison football has climbed another step upward in the latest CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division football poll.

The rankings, release Monday by the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos, has the Chargers at No. 5. They moved up one slot after improving to 5-1 following a 14-7 victory over Newport Harbor on Friday. Orange Lutheran, Los Alamitos, Crespi, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks and St. John Bosco all moved up a spot in the poll after second-ranked Mission Viejo lost last week to Tesoro.

Edison (5-1) plays No. 3 Los Alamitos tonight at Vets Stadium in Long Beach. In girls’ cross-country, Fountain Valley comes in at No. 9 in the Division I poll.
