Newport-Mesa Schools host several fall events

Adams Elementary School will host two exciting events.

Their first big event is a PTA Jog-a-thon fundraiser. The event is on Wednesday, October 29, on the Adams field from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Students will be walking/jogging/running to raise money for many of our Adams special PTA programs. Upon completion of their run, students will receive gorgeous marathon medals for their efforts. Our second is our spooky event – the Annual Halloween parade on Friday, October 31, beginning at 8:30 am on the school playground. You are welcome to watch as students, teachers, and staff parade around the playground in their neat costumes. Prizes will be given for a variety of costume categories. We hope to see you at Adams’ Halloween Haunt!

California Elementary School is hosting its 5th annual Halloween Hoot from 11-4 on Saturday, October 25. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this festival. There will be carnival games, food, raffle prizes, music, face painting, pie eating contest, prizes and lots of fun! Admission is free and games are 50cents.

Corona del Mar Middle/High School Academy for Arts (PAMA) is throwing a Haunted Maze that will be open to the general public on Thursday night, Oct. 30th from 7-9pm. It’s in the back parking lot at CdMHS. Tickets are $3.00 per person.

Harbor View Elementary School Halloween Parade occurs at 8:20 flag deck on Friday, October 31. We will also have our Halloween Book Spooktacular (aka Book Fair) all week. On Wednesday evening, Daniel Ward will be in the MPR for a book signing!

Lincoln Elementary School will host their annual Boo Blast costume parade on October 31 at 8:30 a.m. on the playground. Families are encouraged to attend.

Mariners Elementary School will transform the Penne Ferrell Theatre into a spooky haunted set on Monday, October 27 for the annual Halloween Boo Feast. For the last five years the Urbaniec family (Mrs. Urbaniec is a 2nd grade teacher at Mariners) has put together a magical stage and production that of which Disney could be proud of!

Newport Harbor High School is celebrating our Homecoming next week. The Homecoming Game will be on Friday, October 31st at 7 p.m. at Davidson Field. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Our Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, November 1st from 8 to 11 p.m. in our main gym. The theme is A Haunted Harbor Homecoming. Tickets are on sale now in our ASB office. Only Newport Harbor students and their pre-approved guests may attend the dance.

Orange Coast Middle College High School Annual Multi-Culture Family Potluck at Middle College on Thursday, October 30. PTSA meeting at 6:00 p.m. Family Potluck at 6:30 in school courtyard. Student Halloween Costume Party at 7:00-8:30 in OCC Student Center Lounge. Families are encouraged to wear clothing and bring food that is traditional to their heritage/culture. This is a culmination of the Heritage Research Reports students have completed in computer classes.

Paularino Elementary School Panthers will host their annual “Boo” Parade on Friday, October 31st at 8:30 am. Students can come to school dressed in their costume but will change after the parade to continue learning throughout the day.

Sonora Elementary School is hosting their annual Halloween Parade with a couple of songs and a lot of parading around to show off costumes. 8:15 – 8:45 a.m. on Friday, October 31.

TeWinkle Middle School will be running an “old-school” Haunted House on campus for our local feeder schools and the community. It will run Monday October 27 through Friday October 31st from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Admission will be $3.00 for one time through and of course the “Best Deal” two times through for $5.00. Snacks will be sold.

Victoria Elementary School families will be enjoying a fun-filled autumn evening at the 2008 Fall Festival scheduled for Thursday, October 30th (4:30 – 7:30 p.m.) Victoria families are invited to enjoy making crafts, decorating pumpkins, visiting the spooky house maze, and games. This years’ menu includes hot dogs, polish sausage, chili, hot apple cider, tamales and home-baked goodies. Students are welcome to wear costumes and have their picture taken at the photo booth. This event is sponsored by the Victoria School PTA.
