Estancia, CdM put league title hopes on line today
The last time Estancia High faced Laguna Beach in girls’ tennis, the Breakers escaped with a win that was decided by games, 77-71, after a 9-9 tie on Oct. 9.
This time, the Eagles will try to even the score and force a tie for first place in the Orange Coast League when the teams meet today at 3 p.m. at Estancia.
Senior Ellie Edles, who has committed to UC Davis, leads Coach Rachel de los Santos’ Eagles. Estancia’s No. 1 singles player is undefeated in league play.
With one league match remaining after today, Laguna Beach, which is unbeaten in league, can clinch the Orange Coast League title with a victory.
Corona del Mar, meanwhile, will try to remain undefeated and in position to win its 10th straight Pacific Coast League title. The Sea Kings (12-0, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division I, play host to second-place University today at 3:15 p.m.
CdM defeated the Trojans, who are ranked No. 4 in CIF Division I, 15-3, Oct. 8.
