SAN CLEMENTE — The Corona del Mar High girls’ golf team won a three-team playoff for second place in the Pacific Coast League and a CIF postseason berth Tuesday at San Clemente Municipal Course.

CdM scored 228 through nine holes, ahaed of Beckman (238) and Irvine (246). University had already clinched the top spot. The Sea Kings and Beckman advanced to the CIF Southern Section Southern Team Divisional Nov. 10 at El Prado Golf Course.

CdM also had four girls advance to today’s league final, as Tuesday’s event also served as the first day of the PCL individual finals.

The top 15 moved on today’s final, half of the field competing. CdM’s Amanda Johnson shot a 90 on the par-73 course. The Sea Kings’ Kelly Moorhead, Grace Kim and Hyebin Hong each shot 94 to play in today’s final.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Sunset League finals

CHINO — Newport Harbor junior Lauren Draganza and senior Tiffany Kane both shot 13-over-par 121 to tie for third Tuesday and advance to the CIF Southern Section Southern Individual Regional

Draganza, who shot a two-over-par 38 Monday to lead, shot an 11-over 83 Tuesday at El Prado Golf Course. Kane shot an 80. The Southern Regional is Monday at Yuicapa Valley Golf Club. Three Newport Harbor players also competed in Tuesday’s league finals. Lindsey Hann (83) finished tied for eighth, Ali Thomas (87) was 10th and Casey Jones (86) finished 11th.

Los Alamitos’ Natalie Prystaloski won the league title with a 10-over 118.

Golden West League finals

CHINO — Estancia sophomore Ashley Peters finished second after shooting six-over-par 78 at El Prado Golf Course Tuesday.

Peters advances to the CIF Southern Section Southern Individual Regional Monday at Yuicapa Valley Golf Club. She shot 15-over 158 for the two-day tournament. The top three advanced to the Southern Regional.

Junior Kim Haycraft (171) finished fourth, junior Jeana de Arakal (173) was fifth and senior Jackie Crosson (191) was sixth to earn first-team all-league honors and help the Eagles be the league’s top representative for the CIF Southern Section Southern Team Divisional Nov. 10 at El Prado. Estancia shared the league title with Laguna Beach, but had a better team score on Tuesday.

Junior Nicole Irigoyen (192) finished seventh and Maritza Gonzales (197) tied for eighth to earn second-team all-league honors. The top six were first-team all-league, and the next top six made the second team.

Laguna Beach junior Grace Komoroczy won the league title with a 152 (75-77).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. Irvine

IRVINE — Sydney Brombal and Conley Kipp had nine kills each in the Sea Kings’ 25-15, 25-13, 25-11 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Jenny Martin had three ace serves, while Madie Smith had 27 assists and Megan Griffin had 11 assists for the Sea Kings (15-6, 5-1 in league).

CdM, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division II-AA, plays host to University Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Sage Hill def. Whitney

NEWPORT COAST — Hayden Furey had five kills and three ace serves in the Lightning’s 15-12, 25-15, 25-14 Academy League win Tuesday.

Libero Sally Mace had 11 digs and one ace and Tierney Danner had five kills and one ace for Sage Hill (12-10, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division IV-AA.

The Lightning play host to Oxford Academy today at 5 p.m.

Marina 3

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Liz Cramer and Rebecca Arnold swept in singles to help the Sailors remain undefeated in the Sunset League Tuesday.

The doubles team of Natalie Small and Jeanne Frei, and the tandem of Alex Aiello and Riley Mathies swept for the Sailors (15-3, 8-0 in league).

Newport Harbor plays host to Esperanza Thursday at 3 p.m. If the Sailors win they clinch the league title.

NEWPORT BEACH — Jaclyn Smrecek and Katie Bick swept in singles in the Lightning’s Academy League match Tuesday at Balboa Bay Racquet Club.

The doubles team of Isa-Marie Taskinen and Rian Billingsley and the tandem of Devyn Billingsley and Dominique Moore swept for Sage Hill (15-4, 7-2 in league), which clinched second place in league.

The Lightning, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, play at Dana Hills, ranked No. 2 in CIF Division I, today at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Costa Mesa 18, Orange 2

ORANGE — Dustin Serrano scored seven goals for the Mustangs in their nonleague game Tuesday.

Cody Serrano added five goals, while Chingiz Bigalimov added three for Costa Mesa (16-6). The Mustangs were without starting goalie Jackson O’Connor, who sprained his ankle during the weekend, Coach Justin Taylor said.

He will most likely miss Costa Mesa’s game today at Laguna Beach at 3:15 p.m., that’s for the Orange Coast League title. Both teams are 3-0 in league.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sydney King had 11 saves for the Sailors in the Sunset League game.

Newport Harbor (9-2-3, 6-2-1 in league) clinched second place in league and the Oilers clinched the title, Coach Devon Kelly said. Lauren Rojas played well defensively making some great stops, Kelly said.
