Parties get out the vote this weekend

Local political parties are seeking volunteers to recruit voters this weekend.

The Orange County GOP invites residents to knock on doors during neighborhood walks at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at 16541 Gothard St., Suite 204, Huntington Beach. A pancake breakfast will be at 8 a.m. and a barbecue with Reps. Dana Rohrabacher and Ed Royce will be at 1:30 p.m. Call (714) 596-5254 or e-mail OCGOPVolunteer@gmail. com.

The Progressive Democrats of America will host a Progressive Unity Rally at 11:30 a.m. Sunday to get out the vote in Orange County for Barack Obama, Debbie Cook and others. Also, informal rallies for and against Proposition 8 are reportedly planned for Sunday near Beach Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue from about noon to 4 p.m.
