AYSO REGION 86 CHAMPIONS

Champions were crowned in six divisions in AYSO Region 86 (Laguna Beach) Saturday as the fall regular season came to a close.

The division champions are:

Under-14 divisions: Gang Green took the boys’ title and Laguna Beach Fire won the girls’ title.

Boys’ Under-12: Three teams were in contention for the title but it was Quick Silver, coached by Frank Ebrahimi, who captured first place after winning their final game, 3-2, over the Green Team. The Oranges helped Quick Silver re-take first place by defeating an underhanded Men in Black team that only played with nine players, 5-2.

Boys’ Under-10: Coach Scott Tenney’s Silver Spartans claimed the title with an impressive record of 7-0-0.

Girls’ Under-12: By playing the Blue Breakers to a 2-2 tie Saturday, the Purple Galaxy, coached by Hoss Tabrizi, was able to come away with the division title.

Girls’ Under-10: In a tight race for division supremacy that went down to the final weekend of play, the Jolly Ranchers, coached by Andrew Hockaday, secured the top spot with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Ice Breakers.

The U-10, U-12 and U-14 teams are now seeded into the regional tournament that will take place over the next four Saturdays in November. Games will be played at Top of the World Elementary School, El Morro Elementary School and Thurston Middle School. Each Regional Champion will be invited to represent AYSO Region 86 in the Southern Orange County AYSO Area 11L Tournament of Champions that will be played at San Juan Sports Park on Dec. 6-7.
